Fulfill
yearnity
April 15 - May 12
Imagine having a clear sense of who you want to become, how you want your relationships to be, and how you can uniquely help others. You sense these things so clearly, you exist as if they've already happened. And then you and your circumstances naturally and easily flow toward those balanced states without you having to stress, worry, or force it to happen.

That's what it feels like to Fulfill Yearnity. So, what is "yearnity"? If you look it up in the dictionary, you'll read... well, nothing. It's a made-up word. English doesn't have vocabulary that concisely describes this consept so we use a portmanteau of "yearn" and "unity".

> What does "yearn" mean? What does "unity" mean?
> What feelings and nuances are associated with these words?
> What might a word that combines these two words signify?

Here's one way to think of it: "Yearn" implies longing for something with deep emotion. To yearn is beautiful but it also insinuates a sense of lack, of not being whole until you have what you long for. "Unity" implies wholeness: when all the parts of something are unified, they feel complete.

Imagine all of the parts that make you up being unified and stable as you channel your energy toward your best self. You feel the wholeness of being your best self even as you move toward the goal. That is one meaning of "yearnity". As you contemplate the implications of "yearn" and "unity", you'll discover other helpful definitions. Please share them with us!

You might hear us use the word "yearnity" to describe any of the following:

> Someone's ultimate and unique potential.
> The path that helps them reach that potential.
> The next step on that path.

Our yearnity is a balanced and fulfilling state that our deepest selves desire more than anything else. When you and I and those we love become aware of our yearnity and we remove the beliefs and trauma that distract us from it, we will naturally flow toward it similarly to how heat rises or water flows downhill. It's a more desirable state that our souls will flow toward without stress or pushiness.

> What parts of your life feel stressful? How could knowing your yearnity or helping others learn their yearnity pave the way for success without stress?

Each of the virtue seasons, has a number of Core Principles equal to its order in the season. As the first season of the virtue year, Fulfill Yearnity only has one Core Principle, which is simply "Fulfill Yearnity". It's that simple.

We think it's beautiful that the virtue year starts in the Spring (in the northern hemisphere), when life is coming forth all around us and nature reminds us of new beginnings. It's an opportunity to begin the virtue year contemplating what really does fulfill our yearnity and how we're going to manifest it during all thirteen virtue seasons.

> What other connections do you see between Spring, yearnity, and the beginning of the virtue year?

This is very important: Remember that the purpose of all thirteen virtues is to help oneself and everyone else to enjoy their best selves (A.K.A. fulfill their unique yearnity). If you try to apply any of the other virtues in a way that isn't Fulfilling Yearnity, you're missing the point.

> Pick any of the other twelve virtues. How does that virtue help people Fulfill Yearnity?

Two more important things:

1) Transcend ego to find yearnity
We all have a voice inside us called "ego". This voice is obsessed with survival at the cost of anything else. It tells you that you need to be better than others, consume thoughtlessly, and own more things in order to be whole. But the wholeness the ego seeks isn't wholeness at all but a fleeting illusion. It's a mirage in a very barren desert.

Your ego gets in the way of flowing easily toward the fruitful oasis of your best self and circumstances. Its desires are counterfeits of yearnity. So, what do we do about ego? Here are some things that'll help:

> Read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
> Do the "Transcend Ego" activity in the "Resources" part of this page.
> Subscribe to 13 Seasons on YouTube and follow us on TikTok. We frequently post videos with ideas and reminders for transcending ego.
> Support 13 Seasons on Patreon to get exclusive content, group mentoring, or even one-on-one mentoring (depending on the tier) to help you transcend ego and practice each virtue season well.

2) Fulfilling Yearnity includes a continuous virtue-mindset
Every single thing you ever do is an opportunity to help yourself and others Fulfill Yearnity. Whether you're doing your job, spending time with loved ones, working on a hobby, doing chores, waiting in line, or doing anything at all, you have the opportunity to choose to see it through lens of Fulfilling Yearnity or just go through the motions.
As you learn to see more and more activities as opportunities to Fulfill Yearnity, life will feel more and more purposeful in a way that isn't grandiose (this is yearnity, not ego after all).
Because each virtue is a skill that enables you to Fulfill Yearnity, you'll see everything as a chance to practice one or more of the 13 virtues. Everything will gradually become imbued with a deep sense of meaning that transcends language and thought and is characterized by love, gratitude, and mindful joy.
